ABOUT THE CLINIC
Mission Statement
Today more than ever, scientists say that people are keeping
their teeth for a lifetime. Our goal is to help you with the
knowledge and the ability to do so. If this goal can be achieved
then the foundation of a beautiful smile can be achieved.
The goal of the practice is tooth loss prevention. When this is
not possible, Dr Desai will help formulate a treatment plan with
your family dentist in order to replace missing teeth in the
best and most cost effective manner. Our ultimate goal is to
ensure you have an aesthetic
and well functioning mouth for the long term – not just an
instant fix!
Map and Directions
Dr Desai’s office is located in the downtown Kamloops at the
Corner of 3rd and Lansdowne (see
map). There is ample metered street
parking and a lot in the building itself.

A specialty office is usually a referral based practice
but YOU DO NOT NEED A REFERRAL TO SEE DR. DESAI. Dr
Desai is the main part of the office periodontal team
but anyone can help with questions you may have: her
hygienists Brook & Dawn, her front desk staff Bernice
& Maureen and the certified dental assistants Marianne &
Melissa, together as a team, can deliver dental health
care to benefit you the best. |
Individualized Attention
Every person is an individual and as such, so is one’s mouth!
Please be assured that Dr. Desai and her staff will treat you as
an individual and suggest treatment only as individualized as
you are! As such comparing treatments of “grafts” with your
neighbour or family member is not necessarily like comparing
apples to apples. A graft is not just a graft – there are many
many different types. Thus the costs will vary as well as one’s
own individual healing and postoperative symptoms.
Consultation

When you call the office, a consultation appointment will be
made by the front desk. You may download the
PDF file, outlining the office
policy and also asking you to fill out the medical history which if
mailed or faxed can expedite the first appointment. On the day
of consultation, your medical/dental history is reviewed and Dr Desai
will be able to acquaint herself with you and your case. A thorough extra/intraoral examination and any digital images if needed will be taken. These
procedures help Dr. Desai with the diagnosis and develop a
treatment plan. Occasionally study models for implants’
treatment planning/surgical guide will be taken as well. Finally
Dr. Desai will discuss treatment approaches (and this can be
reviewed at a 2nd no charge appointment if necessary) with you
and your family dentist. Then you
will be escorted to the front reception area and an appointment can be
scheduled for the recommended treatment. At this point,
payments, financial options with respect to dental insurance or Care Credit
Financing can be discussed.

Will my Insurance Cover this?
|
Our knowledgeable staff will assist you in filling out the forms and sending
them electronically to the insurance company in order for you to
expedite your financial reimbursement. We shall report only what
is to be performed and when it was done in a true and accurate
report. The amount you receive from your dental insurance
company depends only on the contract your employer has
negotiated with the insurance company. This dental insurance is
a contract between the insurer and the insured. Thus you are
responsible for full payment of any treatment delivered in the
office. This in turn makes Dr. Desai only responsible to you and
not have a conflict of interest with the dental insurance
company paying her directly. |

Care Credit Financing
We offer a dental
line of credit – “Care Credit” that can be applied for through
the office. Only minutes are required to apply and realize what
your credit limit is.
Care Credit is North America’s leading patient payment program.
They offer a full range of interest free and extended payment
plans for treatment fees from $300 - $25,000. With Care Credit
you can begin your periodontal treatment without delay and
afford treatment over time.
Cancellation
If you need to cancel an appointment for consultation or
treatment, at least 48 hours is requested so that we may have
time to re-schedule another patient who also requires treatment
Financial Arrangements
We accept Visa, Mastercard, Interac, Cheques, Cash and Care
Credit Financing. We do not
accept direct payment from the insurance company. This way there
is no conflict of interest.
Fees
Fees are based upon the BC Periodontics Fee guide. Usually Dr.
Desai charges fees for consultation and treatment at or below
the recommended Fee Guide.
